Enviromat Sedum Matting at RHS Hampton Court Palace flower show

Urbanise is a garden designed for a young couple who have recently moved from rural surroundings into a more urban lifestyle.  The garden features soft, subtle summer flowering, low maintenance planting and a relaxing al-fresco eating area.  Central to the garden is a raised deck area with Enviromat Sedum Matting installed around it to conceal the tool-storage area beneath the deck and to connect the raised area with the surrounding planting.

The garden also features movement and sound with three cascading waterfalls to crete a focal point and distract from the bustle and noise of the city.  Mature trees provide height, seclusion and dappled shade whilst clever use of shrubs and perennials give the impression of being in a rural setting.  "Urbanise" shows how a well designed garden can be beautiful, functional and low maintenance yet still contain plenty of the the green plants that are so important for our wellbeing and for the environment.
