The benefits of living green roofs are many; wildlife habitat, insulation,and simply looking good amongst others. But to maximise the benefits, the roof must be maintained.
Extensive green roofs, ie relatively shallow growing medium and simple planting, are generally low maintenance but they are certainly not No Maintenance.

For green roof owners who are not confident to carry out their own maintenance regime, or for those who simply do not have time, Enviromat offer a bespoke green roof maintenance service.
Our clients include commercial warehouse owners, schools, local authorities, homeowners and gardeners. Their living roofs range from garden offices with wild flower roofs to extensive sedum roofs over 5,000m2 in area.
What does the Green Roof Maintenance Service Involve?
Every green roof is different and so the first stage in the process is to visit the client and the roof to assess the condition of the plants and find out if there are any problems to address. There is no charge for an assessment
Our Green Roof Maintenance Manager will devise a maintenance program for the roof and then provide you with an itemised quotation. You can choose whether to sign up for the full program or whether to select some elements and not others - for example, you may prefer to clear gutters yourself and ask us to feed and weed the vegetated part of the roof.
Services include:
Removal and disposal of debris (fallen leaves, rubbish etc)- Careful removal and disposal of all unwanted plants and tree seedlings
- Repair or replacement of any failed areas of planting
- Application of appropriate fertilisers
- Clear debris from drains and guttering
- Inspection report on repairs needed to visibly damaged waterproofing and structure including downpipes, guttering, irrigation and safety devises
- Inspection of the roof's drainage system
- Examination and the restitution of gravel margins to ensure their continuation as a plant ingress and fire barrier
